American Arbor Tree Care Professionals was founded by Matthew Moore, whose early career removing hazardous trees for the National Park Service (NPS) in Yosemite National Park laid the foundation for exceptional tree care expertise. In Yosemite, Matthew gained invaluable knowledge from Miwok and Paiute mentors—renowned as some of the world's most skilled tree technicians—learning the precision and care required to handle some of the planet's largest trees safely.

Matthew’s time in Yosemite also refined his advanced climbing and rope-work skills, honed through big-wall climbing. These techniques seamlessly translated to the arboriculture industry, allowing for unparalleled efficiency and safety in tree care. With six years of bioscience studies, a deep respect for nature’s design, and a passion for the outdoors, Matthew established American Arbor Tree Care Professionals in 1982 to bring sustainable, expert tree care to the Greater Sacramento Valley.
